Senior Lecturer in Maritime Master Programmes

We are looking for 

Senior Lecturer in Maritime Master Programmes

Your tasks include teaching students at the Maritime Master Programmes Autonomous Maritime Operations and Maritime Management, supervising study projects and thesis work, and developing teaching and training methods taking into account developments in working life. As an essential part of your work, you will also participate in research, development and innovation projects, and possibly also in course activities for working life.

We offer flexible arrangements and stimulating tasks. The position can be adapted to your life situation and total amount of working hours can be discussed.

For the position we would emphasize the following:

  • a multidisciplinary and practical approach to the development of maritime education
  • knowledge of digital pedagogy for the development of teaching and content production of English-language master's programs in the maritime sector
  • practical work experience in maritime or shipping administrative, commercial or legal tasks
  • good connections to shipping and maritime working life
  • ability and desire for both national and international stakeholder cooperation
  • proof of applying for and implementing national and international projects focused on the development of teaching
  • readiness to travel when work tasks and stakeholder cooperation require

We are looking for you who have:

  • a doctorate as a postgraduate degree in either the field of business administration, economics or law
  • knowledge of the shipping industry, knowledge of autonomous shipping and future challenges of shipping
  • skills to teach using digital methods
  • previous experience in teaching and research tasks
  • excellent English language skills 
  • a good command of Finnish or/and Swedish is a merit
  • the will to cooperate as well as the ability to work independently  

As a teacher at Novia UAS, you are expected to have at least three years of work experience in tasks corresponding to degree. 

Teachers at Novia UAS shall have completed pedagogical studies comprising 60 credits or 35 study weeks. If you have not completed pedagogical studies, you will have the possibility to conduct them alongside work within three years of employment.

Salary according to General collective agreement for Universities of Applied Sciences and internal directives. The position includes a probationary period of six months. 

For the period: 1.8.2024 – 31.7.2025 with the possibility of extension.

Location: Turku, Finland. We are also open to flexible solutions.
